One of the least expensive ways of improving the value of your home is by updating your bathroom. Here are seven inexpensive tips to get more bang for your buck:

  1. Paint the walls. When you paint the walls, think neutral instead of colorful. A neutral color will accent the bolder paint of your shelves, vanity, etc.
  2. Repaint the vanity with an accent color. Doing this will make it stand out better. If the vanity is too worn, you might want to consider replacing it. They only cost around $300, so it’s not a big expense.
  3. Replace the flooring. If the flooring looks really bad and doesn’t clean up well, you might want to install new linoleum that looks like wood. This is a popular modern look.
  4. Change the showerhead. There are showerheads available out there that are LED-driven and give you a dozen different spray patterns.
  5. Add shelving (if you have the room). Shelving will not only add the ability to store more things, but it will also give you the chance to accent-color those shelves to make them stand out.
  6. Hang a picture or some other decorative item on problem walls. This will draw the attention towards the decorative item, as opposed to the wall.
  7. Add lighting. This is the most important step. It’s amazing how quickly you can improve the likeability of a bathroom with lots of bright lights.

Changing the lighting to a more modern look is imperative.
